HENRY VIII’s reformation

The reformation was the dissolution of the monasteries and the king becoming supreme ruler of the church in England. It all started when Henry wanted to divorce Katherine of Aragon but couldn’t as the pope was being held prisoner by the holy roman emperor, (Katherine of Aragon’s nephew) so the pope said no.then Henry became head of the church of England and created the church of England. As the monasteries still supported the pope not Henry he closed them down, and taking their riches.
